The AU Summit, Afreximbank's $1bn and Oh, AFCON Soccer Talk Too!

It was not all talk about loans and financing of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) at the AU's 12th Extraordinary Summit. Presidents Emmerson Mnangagwa and Felix Tshisekedi exchanged war stories on AFCON 2019 where Zimbabwe was bundled out after ending at the bottom of Group A after a Congolese Leopards drubbing, only for them to get their come-uppance when Madagascar beat them 4-2 on penalties this past weekend. Oh and lest we forget, Afreximbank is donating U.S.$1 billion to kickstart the plan by African countries to finance trade agreements between themselves - sisters and brothers doing it for themselves...

The AU's 12th Extraordinary Summit on AfCFTA ended on July 7.
