The main opposition Peoples Democratic Party has called on the government to explain the whereabouts of U.S.$1 billion that is reportedly missing from the excess crude account security fund. The party alleged that the money was spent by President Muhammadu Buhari on the 2019 elections. But the presidency, in a swift reaction, said it spent U.S.$490 million on buying 12 Tucano jets, describing PDP as a party under socio-emotional distress.
