Nigeria: No Ban, Restrictions On Importation of Food Items - Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari says the directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria to stop providing foreign exchange for food importation aims to improve agricultural production and attain full food security. According to Buhari, the foreign reserve will be used strictly for diversification of the economy and not for encouraging more dependence on foreign food.
In his Democracy Day speech, President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians that the next four years will focus on improving the lives of people. Buhari also said that he is aware of the dangers of insecurity to the economy and blamed the insecurity in the country on political elite and religious leaders.
