Can South Africa and Nigeria Reset Their Relationship?

South Africa's President Cyril Ramaphosa will host Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari for a state visit, starting on October 3, 2019. Relations between the two countries soured after a wave of xenophobic attacks in Johannesburg. Previously, the two countries had sound political, economic and social relations that were formally established in 1994, immediately after South Africa's first democratic elections.
