Zimbabwe Vice President Chiwenga's Estranged Wife Denied Bail

Mary Mubaiwa, who has been denied bail and remains in custody facing charges of attempting to kill her husband, Zimbabwean Constantino Vice President Chiwenga, says she is ill and unable to stand trial. In High Court papers, Mubaiwa said that despite being accused of attempting to murder Chiwenga in South Africa, President Emmerson Mnangagwa later gave her U.S.$30 000 to travel to China and visit her husband in hospital in Asia. She also faces charges of fraud, money laundering and externalisation of foreign currency.
