East African Countries Endorse Pioneering Free Movement Deal

A breakthrough agreement on free movement of people will help people fleeing natural hazards, disasters and climate change to seek safety in neighbouring countries in East Africa, writes Tamara Wood for the Thomson Reuters Foundation. The Free Movement Protocol - the product of years of negotiation - was endorsed by all seven member states of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).
