Alcohol Banned in Pandemic-Hit South Africa - Again

The head of trauma at Gauteng's Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, Professor Steve Moeng, welcomed the decision to reinstate a ban on alcohol sales during the COVID-19 outbreak, saying that since Level 3 started on June 1: "Usually when it's cold, trauma goes down, but unfortunately we have seen higher numbers. Unfortunately, that has had a negative impact in terms of our ability to deal with the COVID-19 load in our hospitals."
