As Nigeria Crosses Rubicon, U.S. Policy Must Change

U.S. policy is 'off course' as Nigeria crosses a rubicon, following the killing of peaceful #endsars protesters, according to two former U.S. officials and longtime friends of Nigeria. The relationship with Nigeria under President Trump has been "shambolic and even toxic at times," Matthew T. Page and Judd Devermont write in an AllAfrica guest column, saying that U.S.-Nigeria p[olicy has been "Inert, ineffective, lacking a moral compass." They call on Joe Biden, if he is elected, to work on rebuilding America's relationship with the Nigerian people.

President Donald Trump hosted Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the White House in 2018 - Trump's first official visit from an African head of state.
