Ethiopia Names Tigray Opposition Forces as Terror Groups

The Ethiopian government has declared the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front and Oromo Liberation Front-Shene as terrorist organisations. According to the Council of Ministers, the TPLF and OLF-Shene have been carrying out terror attacks on innocent civilians and public property.

This while Associated Press recently reported that the government was allegedly arresting thousands of ethnic Tigrayans across the country. Fighting is still underway in certain parts of Tigray, despite the government saying that the war that broke out in November of 2020 was over.

The East African reports that political parties in the region wrote a letter to the UN and the international community to push for the immediate withdrawal of the Eritrean forces involved in the war and hold them accountable for the war crimes and human rights abuses they have committed in the region over the past six months.
