Boko Haram Leader Reported Killed in Clash with Rival Group

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has been killed, according to a report by the news platform HumAngle published by Premium Times. Shekau, whose death has been reported many times before, reportedly died following the invasion of the Boko Haram stronghold by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a terror group that broke away from the Shekau-led Boko Haram faction in 2016 and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).

According to Nigeria's Vanguard News, ISWAP - led by Abu-Musad Albarnawy has taken over territories previously controlled by Boko Haram and arrested 30 top commanders loyal to the late Boko Haram leader.
