Tunisia Comes Out Tops at 2021 AfroBasket Tournament

Champions Tunisia defeated Ivory Coast 78-75 to retain their Fiba AfroBasket crown in the final held on September 25, 2021 at the Kigali Arena. AfroBasket is the biggest basketball event for national teams on the continent.

The tournament attracted 16 teams that included Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia, to smaller ones like Cape Verde, Kenya and Rwanda. Unlike other countries that had to tussle it out for qualification for the 2021 edition, Rwanda automatically made it to the tournament as the host.

This year's tournament took place under strict protocols employed to prevent risks of contracting or spreading the Covid-19 virus.
