UN Peacekeepers Lower Flag as 10-Year Mali Mission Ends

The UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA), lowered the UN flag at its headquarters in the country's capital Bamako on Monday, December 11, 2023, according to Al Jazeera, writes Jerry Chifamba for AllAfrica.

This concludes the organization's ten-year deployment in Mali, as per the directive of the military administration of the country.

In August 2023, the deteriorating security situation in the City of Ber in Mali led to the UN peacekeeping mission (MINUSMA) speeding up its withdrawal from the city in the north of country, wrote Esther Rose for AllAfrica.
