Dozens Killed In Drone Strike In Ethiopia's Amhara Region
The death toll from a suspected drone attack in Finote Selam in the East Gojam Zone of Amhara region has reached at least 30, with more than 55 others injured in the attack currently being treated at the town's main hospital. The head of the Finote Selam General hospital, Manaye Tenaw, told the Addis Standard that the majority of the victims were dead on arrival, with only two succumbing to their injuries after being admitted.
Ethiopia's federal government forces and the Amhara regional militia Fano, which fought on the same side during the two-year war between the Ethiopian military and Tigray Peoples Liberation Front in the Tigray region, have been fighting each other for the past four months, Voice of America reports.
Fighting between the Ethiopian federal government and Fano was sparked in April, 2023 when the government ordered the militia to integrate with the country's police or military, following the peace deal with Tigray region, which was signed in South Africa.
