Power Restored After Nationwide Blackout in Nigeria

Nigeria's electricity has been restored following a nationwide blackout on Monday, December 11, 2023.

The latest collapse is coming months after the national grid system collapsed in September and Nigerians were thrown into darkness. The collapse occurred after claims by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) of 400 days without a system collapse. Residents in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States were heavily impacted. The collapse of the grid was confirmed by electricity distribution companies.

In 2022, Nigeria's grid collapsed at least eight times, which authorities blamed on technical problems.
