Miners Die In Landslide Caused By Heavy Rains In Tanzania

More than 21 miners died in a landslide at a mine in the north of Tanzania on Saturday, January 13, 2024. The defence force is helping with the recovery of the bodies.

The miners were in an area restricted due to heavy rains, an official said.

In December 2023, Tanzania faced a catastrophic landslide that claimed 65 lives, leaving over 100 injured in Hanang district in the Manyara region.

Neighbours Kenya, Somalia, and Ethiopia have all also been battling flash floods caused by torrential rains.
