Kenya Deployment to Haiti on Hold After PM Henry's Resignation

Kenya had planned to send 1,000 police officers to help Haiti combat gang violence, as approved by the UN Security Council, but this has been put paused due to Haiti's Prime Minister Ariel Henry resignation

However, Kenya says it still plans for its police officers to patrol high-risk areas, assist in humanitarian aid distribution, and train local police forces.

Some analysts speculate on Kenya's resolve, suggesting it may be influenced by its alignment with the United States and its commitment to international obligations. While some Kenyans support the mission, concerns about the safety and preparedness of deployed officers persist, highlighting the need for thorough training and adequate resources before proceeding.
