Liberia Opposition Troubled Over Sacking of Presidential Guards

Following the reported mass dismissal of officers of the Executive Protective Service, which provides security for the President and other senior government officials, the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change of former president George M. Weah has alarmed at what it described as "severe excesses" of the ruling Unity Party and called on the National Legislature and the international community to prevail on the government to "change course in the interest of peace and stability".The officers were said to have been dismissed for not meeting the "minimum entry requirements" to be employed by the force.
