Rwandan Opposition Politician Ingabire Summoned in Treason Trial
Prominent opposition politician Victoire Ingabire has said she was summoned by a High Court judge in connection with a trial involving nine people accused of treason. Ingabire announced this on X (formerly Twitter), saying she is waiting for additional details.
Her summons followed queries raised by the judge about why Ingabire had not been included among the accused, despite her name "surfacing repeatedly" during the testimonies of the accused.
The prosecution alleges that the accused are affiliated with Ingabire's political party and received her support to carry out a plot to overthrow the Rwandan government.
