UN Mission Condemns Lack of Progress on Libya’s Transition

The head of the UN Support Mission in Libya Hanna Tetteh has expressed concern over the slow pace of progress on a roadmap that leads to national elections and unified institutions. Tetteh said some stakeholders are disregarding the "expectations of the public" regarding their participation in political processes.

"There are both national and regional risks to any continued inaction and foot dragging on the implementation of the roadmap and we believe it is important to recognize this now," she warned, stressing that the security situation remains volatile, although no violations of a 2020 ceasefire have been recorded.

In a report to the UN security council, Tetteh said the current discussios focus on a myriad of issues, including  security, governance, the economy, and national reconciliation and human rights.
