Mass Flight Disruptions in Nigeria as Jet Fuel Shortage Bites

Airlines have warned that a persistent scarcity of jet fuel is causing significant travel disruptions, including widespread delays and cancellations. The crisis has worsened in recent days, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and forcing many to rethink their travel plans.

Major hubs in Lagos and Abuja, along with other key domestic routes, are severely impacting passengers with extended wait times. In a major operational shift, Air Peace has been forced to reduce its London-Heathrow flight frequencies in response to the shortage.

Industry experts attribute the crisis to the skyrocketing cost of Jet A1 aviation fuel, which has surged by over 300% during the Israeli and U.S. war on Iran, and the shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz.
