President Hassan Unveils Roadmap for New Tanzanian Constitution

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has reaffirmed her government's commitment to political dialogue and national unity in the aftermath of deadly post-election violence following the 2025 polls, which left hundreds dead. During a meeting with representatives from 18 political parties, the president pledged to establish a reconciliation commission to facilitate the next phase of the constitutional review process.

The president said the proposed commission will help accelerate consensus-building and ensure all constitutional reform procedures align with the country's laws and regulations.

The gathering marked the second time since the October 2025 election that senior opposition leaders have been brought together for high-level reconciliation talks.
