The Special report of the Secretary-General on Ethiopia and Eritrea aims to provide options and recommendations for any future United Nations peacekeeping presence in Eritrea and Ethiopia. It dicusses the current border dispute between the two nations, and assesses the UN peacekeeping presence in Eritrea and Ethiopia with regard to the previously brokered peace agreement. It further urges the Governments of Eritrea and Ethiopia to reevaluate the consequences of their stalemate, and to accept the assistance of the Security Council in fully implementing the agreements they have entered into.
