Kenya Signs Bypass Construction Deal With China

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Uhuru Kenyatta has signed a 16.9 billion shilling loan agreement with the Chinese government. The money is to fund the construction of the Nairobi Southern bypass which will be a 28.6 kilometer dual carriage road. The Chinese will fund 85% of the project while the government of Kenya will cover the remaining 15%.China remains as one of Kenya's leading bilateral partners with a total development assistance amounting to 59 billion shillings.
