Kenya: Hate Speech in Songs

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) chair Mzalendo Kibunjia has urged two musicians, John de Mathew and Muigai wa Njoroge to voluntarily appear before the commission over allegations of hate speech contained in their songs. Yesterday popular musician Kamande wa Kioi appeared before the commission and recorded a statement. The three musicians are under investigations over their controversial songs that are said to be propagating hate speech and incitement.
