Zimbabwean singer Edith We Utonga has been called confrontational, too outspoken and arrogant. The slams have usually come after speaking her mind on topics like the one she explores on 'Hutungamiri'. The Shona name for her track means 'leadership', a concept that she finds paradoxical because it means, as she puts it: "moving forward, but constantly looking back because you must move with the people that are backing you up".

In this week's episode of My Song, We Utonga talks about her rather politically controversial song. She also shares her hopes for it to serve as a talking point for leadership in any situation.

Every week, My Song showcases the personal stories behind the songs of Africa's most compelling musicians. You'll hear these musicians in their own words. No presenter, no interviewer - nothing to get in the way. Just African voices on African music.
