Western Cape Police Treat 11 Marikana Murders as a Priority Crime

Western Cape police are treating the 11 murders in Marikana informal settlement as a priority crime. Four people were killed outside a tavern. Another seven were shot and killed as gunmen went on the rampage in the same area. Today..police belatedly told the SABC another seven had been killed in the settlement earlier in the week. That brings the death toll to 18. Angry residents marched on the local police station today. They demanded increased police protection in their area. Yesterday two gunmen went on the rampage..killing four people.
