The response strategy is a collaborative effort set to ensure survival of our rich succulent flora whilst promoting sustainable socio-economic development within the country.

The purpose of the national response strategy is to develop a list of actions to address and manage the current challenges posed by illegal harvesting pressures, and to identify key actors that can undertake these actions through national collaborative efforts thereby ensuring the conservation of South Africa's rich succulent flora. Several high-level objectives relating to the succulent flora of the arid zone and key actions required to successfully meet the objectives have been set out.
