Washington, DC — A movie full of action and suspense.   A movie full of violence and entertainment.   A very well put together sequence of action and emotion.   This is what comes to mind when one thinks of a movie about a son that is sent out on a mission to avenge his father’s death.   However, this is not the case in the movie “Daratt,” a movie taking place in Northern Africa.   Yes, this movie is about a son that is sent out on a mission to avenge his father’s death.   However, the well put together and sought out action scenes and a movie filled with entertainment is not what this movie personifies.   However, the emotion is very much there.

The film starts off with the main character, Atim, meeting with his grandfather, whose son was killed.   He is sent by his grandfather to avenge his father’s untimely death by killing his murderer, Nassara.   This proves to be more difficult than it would seem.

Atim finds Nassara an old man beyond his years, with a pregnant wife.   He owns a bread bakery and hires Atim to work for him.   As Atim begins to get closer to Nassara, the opportunities for him to complete his mission present themselves more often.   However, Atim does not take advantage of this.

Nassara begins to grow fond of Atim, and wants to adopt him as his son.   He says he needs Atim’s father’s permission, not knowing that he was the one who killed his father.   Atim, unknowingly, begins to grow fond of Nassara, too.

The movie culminates with Nassara and Atim meeting Atim’s grandfather and Atim being forced to make a choice between avenging his father’s death and doing the right thing.
