VIP's at the Amani Africa Exercise Cycle

The Amani Africa Command Post Exercise (CPX) which has officially kicked off on 20 October at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia will be visited by VIP's on 27 October.

The purpose of the VIP's Day is to brief and update on the mission high level invited guests coming from the Regional Economic Communities (REC's) and the European Union amongst others. The VIP's Day will include a visit to the Strategic Headquarter and to Easbrig, the Headquarter of the East African Force.

Indeed, the African Union (AU), in a collaborative effort with the European Union (EU), intends to conduct the CPX to conclude the Amani Africa training cycle, initiated in 2008. The Exercise, is aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of the AU Commission, through the Peace Support Operations Division, to deploy the African Standby Force (ASF) for an AU mandated multidimensional (with Civilians, Police and Military) peace support operations mission.

Journalists are invited to cover the VIP's Day which will be held as an open session on 27 October at 10:00 a.m. The opening ceremony of VIP's Day will take place at the AU HQ in Committee Room 2.                                                                                                                                                                                          In addition, they are invited to cover the President's Day on 29 October which is also the closing date of the exercise.
