Angola: Elections2022 - Lunda Norte to Benefit From Seven Diamond Projects

Luanda — Angolan government implemented seven "major diamond projects" over the five years in the eastern region of Angola.

The Executive engagement was announced by the leader of the ruling MPLA party, João Lourenço, on Wednesday in Dundo, Lunda Norte province.

The politician said so during a mass rally as part of the ongoing campaign ahead of general elections set for 24 August.

He said that the projects had been carried out as part of the policies implemented by the Angolan government, aimed at the country's development.

João Lourenço also announced plans to launch more development projects in Lunda Norte province in the next term (2022-2027).

He praised the work done by some companies based in the province, with focus on education, health, having recognised that they (companies)help the government in implementing policies to improve the people´s living conditions.

The MPLA leader said that the extraction sector had focused on higher education in Lunda Norte, with the construction of a university campus for the Lueji Ya Nkonda University, which will be completed in two or three years time.

João Lourenço said that over its five-year term, the government concentrated on improving the business environment, including in the extractive sector.

The move is intended to grant fuel supply autonomy to Lunda Norte, which faces storage problems.

Lunda Norte has over 200,000 voters and 704 polling stations.

Roughly 14.3 million Angolans are expected to vote, including 22,560 residing abroad.
