Luanda — Angola participated Tuesday for the first time in the Dubai Global Gold Convention 2022, a mining sector business event to seek business opportunities in order to boost Angola's economic growth.
The "Global Gold Convention 2022" is an international event that gathers diplomats, ministers, key leaders of the gold mining industry, refineries, jewellers, traders, import export companies from the UAE and from around the world.
At the event, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Albino Malungo, presented Angola's mining potential, especially projects linked to gold exploration.
Albino Malungo invited investors to invest in the Angolan minerals market, taking into account the incentive facilities created by the government, under the new model of governance of the mineral resources sector, approved by Presidential Decree No. 143/20, of 26 May.
The diplomat said that with this incentive facilities the Angolan government expects a sustainable management of mineral resources by reducing direct intervention of the state in economic mining activity, optimising the role of economic agents and guiding public companies in the execution of their social object.
He also highlighted prospecting expenses, contributions to the environmental fund, customs expenses and incentives for holders of prospecting title deeds, as well as the issue of equipment for mining exploration exempt from customs duties, facilitated imports and obtaining work visas.
Among other objectives, the business forum served to show to potential investors all trade activity on the gold developed in Angola, as well as to explore potential business opportunities which are available for the mining companies in the African continent and in the Arabian region.
Data from the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) indicate that mineral occurrences of over 2.500 points have been observed, with a total of 1.208 points of gold occurrences identified and other geological studies are underway and more gold occurrences are being identified.
Regarding the locations, the projects are being executed in the provinces of Huíla, Huambo, Bengo, Lunda Norte, Cabinda, Cuanza Norte, Uíge and Zaire.
