Angola: President João Lourenço Leaves for UAE

Luanda — Angolan head of State João Lourenço leaves Saturday for the United Arab Emirates to attend Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2023 in Abu Dhabi city taking place on 14 -19 January, the Presidency's Office has said.

Sustainability Week is a forum dedicated to the environment and is sponsored by the UAE Government every year, said the secretary of the Presidency's Press Office, Luís Fernando.

The Angolan Head of State is expected to participate on Tuesday (17) in a panel dedicated to the topic: the access to clean, available and reliable energy and its role in development of the African continent.

Heads of State from Zambia Hakainde Hichilema, Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and Tanzania Samia Suluhu will also participate in the panel.

This is the second time the Angolan president is being invited to the event in the UAE's capital. The first time happened in January 2019.

This year, the summit takes place under the central theme "United in Climate Action towards COP28".
