Kenya: Safaricom Taps CBK Official to Be the New Network Director

Nairobi — Safaricom has appointed Anthony Gacanja as its new network director, effective June 19, 2023.

Gacanja joins the telco from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), where he served as Director of Information Technology.

He will be responsible for the design, build, rollout, performance, and enhancement of all network infrastructure.

In his new role, he will report to the Chief Technology and Information Officer.

"His primary focus will be delivering a superior quality of service to Safaricom customers. He will also be responsible for managing the delivery of existing Information System Services and the implementation of new systems," Safaricom said in a statement.

Gacanja has over twenty years' experience in information technology governance and operations, cyber security, information risk assurance, and software development.

Before joining CBK, he worked at Safaricom in numerous capacities, such as Head of Department, Technology Security.
