Controversy Over Who Lodged Case Against Senate President's Wife

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission called Mrs. Toyin Saraki, the wife of Senate President Bukola Saraki, to speak to its members about allegations it received of financial fraud while her husband was governor of Kwara state. Mrs. Saraki, a prominent global advocate for maternal and child health said she was glad to appear, as she supported transparency and honesty in government. Meanwhile, her husband's political rivals traded accusations about who lodged the five-year-old complaint against Mrs. Saraki.

International Confederation of Midwives global ambassador Toyin Saraki, second from left, was closing speaker at the group's regional conference of the Americas in Surinam on 17 July 2015.
