Press Freedom Violations Undermine African Progress #WPFD2016

One key measure of a country's levels of freedom and democracy is how the government treats journalists and how free they are to do their work, writes Glenda Daniels in The Conversation Africa. World Press Freedom Day was launched in Africa 25 years ago. Reporters Without Borders' latest World Press Freedom Index shows two interesting things. Namibia, ranked number 17, has the most improved press freedom environment in the world. And Africa, with the exception of North Africa, came second in rankings on the most improved media environment since 2015.
