Nigerian Media Spotlight Negative U.S. Assessment of Military Performance

Animosity between Nigeria's security agencies and unwillingness to share intelligence are hampering efforts to combat the Boko Haram insurgency in the northeastern Nigeria, according to a U.S. government analysis. The assessment, published in the Africa chapter of the 2016 Country Reports on Terrorism released last month by the Department of State, has stirred criticism in Nigeria. The assessment runs counter to Nigerian government claims of successes in the military campaign.
