Namibia and Mauritius to Strengthen Economic Ties During the Inaugural Namibia-Mauritius Business Forum

Windhoek — The Namibia Investment Promotion Development Board (NIPDB), in strategic collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Mauritius, will be hosting the Namibia-Mauritius Business Forum on Monday, 6 November to Tuesday, 7 November 2023 in Windhoek, Namibia.

Hosted under the theme, “Developing new regional value chains”, the purpose of the Forum is to explore and harness opportunities for economic cooperation, trade expansion and investment. The Forum promises to be a comprehensive showcase of potential business ventures with approximately 18 prominent Mauritian companies representing diverse sectors such as textiles and apparel, light engineering, chemicals, agro-processing and the blue economy, actively seeking to collaborate and create linkages with Namibian enterprises.

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade is also expected to play a pivotal role and will be represented by a high-level delegation during the engagement.

Heading the Mauritian delegation is the Director of Industry at the EDB, Mr. Geerish Bucktowonsing who will bring extensive insights into the economic landscape of Mauritius and will be facilitating discussions to foster mutually beneficial relationships among the  participating companies.

The Forum is expected to present opportunities for both Namibia and Mauritius to strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
