When it Rains, it Pours - Floods Hit Drought-Stricken Cape Town
The City of Cape Town has said its disaster co-ordinating teams were working to mitigate any possible problems caused by flooding after heavy downpours severely affected several areas in and around the city, including Khayelitsha, Macassar, Philippi, Gugulethu, Kraaifontein, Atlantis and Maitland. Meanwhile, Witzenberg municipality acting manager Monwabisi Mpeluza warned that motorists were getting into difficulty on mountain passes and had to be towed, especially on inclines due to unexpected amounts of snow.
