African Writers Nominated for Alternative Nobel Prize

Following the cancellation of this year's Nobel Prize for Literature as a result of a sexual scandal, that rocked the Swedish Academy -  a non-profit organization called The New Academy -  has offered a new vote-based alternative to the prestigious award. Nigerian authors Chimamanda Adichie and Nnedi Okorafor as well as renowned Kenyan author Ngugi wa Thiong'o have been nominated for an alternative prize.
