Police, Spy Agency Accused of Sabotaging Mnangagwa Party in Polls

Some Zanu-PF officials believe former deputy finance minister Terrence Mukupe's defeat to MDC Alliance principal Tendai Biti in the July elections was down to sabotage by the Zimbabwe Republic Police and the Central Intelligence Organisation - still bitter over their treatment during and after the military intervention that led to former president Robert Mugabe's resignation. Both the police and spy agency were seen as backing the faction which was loyal to Mugabe and his wife Grace Mugabe.
