Cape Township Residents Cheer Arrival of South African Troops

Defence Force troops have begun operations to quell escalating gang violence in Cape Town, starting in Manenberg. When the troops arrived, residents cheered with some coming out of their homes to watch as police performed raids.

South African National Defence Force has been deployed to the Cape Flats to help the police quell gang violence.

The army started their operation in Manenberg.

As the raids continued, hundreds of children gathered to watch. Soldiers kept the streets closed off.
