Kenya’s DP Ruto Struggles to Get Running Mate For 2022

Deputy President's de facto spokesperson - Jubilee deputy secretary-general and Soy MP, Caleb Kositany, has said that the DP's camp has many options for a running mate and a decision will be made towards the end of 2021. Leaders across the country have been hesitant to openly show their support for the DP. This happens in the midst of a complusory leave for all ministers and principal secretaries that has triggered speculation of a major reshuffle. A rift between the DP and President Uhuru Kenyatta developed following Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga's handshake, with reports claiming that Kenyatta wanted Odinga to be his successor instead of Ruto.
