Many Killed In Attack on Borno State

At least 16 people have now been killed and 60 injured when alleged Boko Haram insurgents attacked Maiduguri in Borno State, with residents saying the insurgents fired rocket propellers into homes. Security forces moved in quickly to push back the militants. Borno State has been the worst hit by insurgency since 2009. Attacks by Boko Haram has seen 40,000 citizens killed and two million being displaced, sparking a dire humanitarian crisis in the region. The latest attacks on Borno, follows the new service chief Major-General Ibrahim Attahiru giving his troops 48 hours in which to free the region from Boko Haram. Six years after President Muhammadu Buhari took office and promising to solve the growing insecurity problem, it still remains one of the major challenges in Nigeria. It has now led to calls from civil society organisations for the president's resignation.
