I'm Setting the Path for Recovery Says Kenya's President Ruto

President William Ruto said he was keen on confronting hunger and insecurity and turn Kenya into an equal-opportunity country for all.

Among the changes the president announced is "the disbandment of the Special Service Unit that he said was engaging in extrajudicial killings. We will not relent until we have a secure country," he said.

The president also announced measures to assist farmers. "Our plan is to take Kenya forward. That is why we are reducing fertiliser and other farm inputs prices so that we can reduce the cost of living," he said. A Hustler Fund will be launched on December 1, 2022 to stimulate entrepreneurship, generate jobs and drive economic growth.

Changes have also been made to the presidential press office - formerly the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), it now known as the Presidential Communication Service (PCS) with David Mugonyi as its chief.

President Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, has accused opposition leader Raila Odinga of plotting to frustrate the government's reform agenda to protect the status quo due to conflict of interest.

Gachagua fired the first salvo saying Odinga was keen on the maintenance of the status quo under President Uhuru Kenyatta whom he supported during his second term.
