Sudan's Burhan Reacts as Rapid Support Leader Lobbies Support

Sudan's junta leader, Lt Gen Abdel-Fattah El Burhan, has lashed out at those countries that have received the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Commander Mohamed 'Hemedti' Dagalo during his current tour in the region, as "partnering in the crimes committed by these murderers," Radio Dabanga reports.

Hemedti has thus far included Ethiopia, Uganda and Djibouti in his itinerary.

Conflict in Sudan erupted over eight months ago, resulting in the loss of more than 10,000 live and the displacement of over seven million people, according to UN estimates.

El-Burhan who is head of the Sudanese army and defacto leader of the country until civilian rule is reestablished, and General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti, leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), were first allies.

Attempts at talks between the two leaders have been postponed several times, with the latest being postponed to early January 2024.

El-Burhan also embarked on a lengthy tour in 2023 for support from various governments, including Egypt and Turkey.
