Nigerian Opposition Inspired By Senegalese Election

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called on opposition political parties in the country to learn from the presidential poll in Senegal and come together to form a coalition ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general election. The former VP said only a strong and united opposition can defeat President Bola Tinubu's All Progressives Congress.

He said: "Against the backdrop of recent military interventions in the West African sub-region, the election of Bassirou Diomaye Faye as Senegal's President-elect... gives hope to the future of constitutional democracy in the region".
