Boakai's Net Worth Raises Questions In Liberia

Following criticisms that he was following in the footsteps of his predecessor, President Joseph Boakai has published his declared assets which show that he is worth nearly a million U.S. dollars. The publication has sparked controversy as some Liberians question the accuracy of the declaration.

According to them, the president's reported gross annual salary seems "implausible" given his monthly earnings for the office of president, raising concerns about whether or not the stated figure was an error or that the presidency attempted to deceive the public.
