CAF Postpones WAFCON 2026 Over 'Unforeseen Circumstances'

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the postponement of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), just days before the tournament was scheduled to begin, citing "unforeseen circumstances".

Twenty-four African nations were set to compete in the biennial tournament. Four teams from WAFCON will earn automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.

In an official statement, CAF said that the competition has been rescheduled for July 25 to August 8, 2026.
