Teachers will have to wait until next financial year to get a raise. Government statements have revealed they have no money to cater for teachers and other public servants this financial year. The budget committee of Parliament tasked to look at various proposed areas of government expenditure and make re-allocations accordingly has found no excess funds to supplement key priority votes like the teachers. The teachers recently downed their tools demanding for an immediate 100% salary increase, but government now says that it cannot do anything now and that teachers together with other public servants should be patient until next financial year. Michael Baleke has the details from parliament.
