The government has finally come to an agreement with nurses and other medical practitioners ending a strike by the health workers that had entered its 4th day today.

The industrial action came to an end after an evening meeting ended just under an hour ago, medical services minister Anyang' Nyong'o has urged medical workers to return to work as the ministry continues to engage the government over their concerns.

The ongoing strike by nurses and other medical practitioners is one whose brunt has continued to be borne by Kenyans. And as Evelyn Wambui reports, many patients had been turned away at some hospitals and forced to seek treatment at the more expensive private hospitals as the strike hit the backbone of Kenya's health system today.
